My Rocking Fashion

I realized I was in serious need of a fashion makeover when I caught myself wearing clothing I knew didn’t fit and most certainly knew wasn’t flattering. It was comfortable, it was sloppy, but it wasn’t really the “me” I wanted projected to the entire world as I came in contact with them. So I set out to do a rocking fashion makeover.

Body Image

I started with my body image. I’m not a waif by any stretch of the imagination and I realized that part of my sloppy dressing had to do with how I perceived my body under all of those clothes. So, even though I didn’t lose tons of weight right away, I stopped eating junk food and started exercising every day, even if it was just for a few minutes to get the blood moving a bit. I lost a few pounds in the first week or two and I could feel that my clothes were a bit looser. I’m keeping up the new eating regime and as I drop just a bit of weight here and there, my confidence is soaring. It feels good to be doing something about my body, even if I’m not there yet.

My Hair

Next was my hair. All one length and rather sloppy to boot, my hair hasn’t been worn down in a hip and cute style for years. It’s been pulled up into a big clip on the back of my head and all but forgotten. But now it’s time to do something different. I need a new style and I’m going to get one from a truly great stylist. I’m lucky to have a close friend who has done hair for years and even taught others how to do hair as a cosmetology instructor. She absolutely knows the best way to give me a rocking fashion makeover worthy hairstyle. I’ll likely leave it long enough to pull up, but at least I’ll have the option of wearing it down in a cute style of some kind.

My Fashion

Most seriously lacking is my fashion. Clothing has been bought to be functional over the last few years, not so much attractive. It’s not hideous, but my clothing certainly isn’t doing anything for me. It’s time to ditch the clothes that are over-sized and sloppy. They might be comfortable, but they just make me look bigger than I am. I’m more comfortable knowing that I look good in clothing that fits correctly.

Of course it takes a while to try on everything in a store to find the best clothing styles for my body type and what not, but it’s worth it when I find one or two items that are easy and fun to wear. For now I’m just picking up a few things, but as the weight keeps coming off, hopefully I’ll have to keep cleaning out the old closet and keep adding new things that fit, look good and feel great on. Already I feel great with my rocking fashion makeover and it’s just in the very beginning stages.

I’ll admit that I’ve always wondered not only what it would be like to go through life resembling a cartoon character but also what would it be like to enjoy the simple luxury of living somewhere other than a house in the suburbs. When these two random musing are blended, it seems I’m most interested in experiencing life as a character, perhaps on a boat house. If I had my own show, I might even name it Anime Boat House.

Experiencing Anime Boat House
Life on my anime boat house would be glorious. In the anime boat house, I’d be lovely. Like all anime characters about my age, I’d have a terrific figure with curves in all of the right places and large doe-like eyes. My hair would be the epitome of style and I’d be able to take on any challenge that came my way. On my anime boat house, I’d be able to travel about the world by water looking for new items and ways to enjoy life in a simplistic way.

I’ve never indulged much in the materialistic elements of life. All that is truly needed for a full, rich life is shelter, food, love and ample time to really dig deeply into yourself to discover who you are as a person and what you can do to move into a new element of your own awareness as well as finding ways to help others.

Super Anime Warrior
So long as I’m taking on the persona of a cartoon character, I might as well do something extra special. While floating about on my anime boat house, I’ll also be looking for those in need and seek out ways to assist them. I might even become a full-fledged super hero as there are so many opportunities in life to do the right thing, yet so often we don’t take them when they come along. Every day that we’re alive, countless opportunities speed by that we can take to open our hearts and share our resources with others. By taking these chances we stand to grow significantly ourselves.

As part of discovering my true self, I’ll take every opportunity to do the right thing for others. At the end of the day, I hope to have made a tremendous impact on other lives as well as my own. Personally, I’m of a mind that the more I do for others the more I gain in return. Doing things for myself benefits only one person. Doing what I can to help others break out of a bad situation and move into a new element and positive place in their lives is a way of affecting ongoing, widespread change. Imaging being able to do all of that as a superhero based on a simple anime boat house. It’s simply brilliant.

If you were to poll a group of girls, you might find a few who were interested in growing up to be a female pirate, but even with those who did decide to become pirates, once upon a time, you simply never hear much about a lady pirate. It does make you wonder why these fine ladies are left out of the tales and legends more often than not.

Women Were Thought To Be Wimps
Naturally we know that women are probably much tougher than men in a given contest of wits and strength today, but a century or two ago, the lady pirate wasn’t taken seriously. But then what should you expect from a society that worked so hard to keep women sheltered, innocent and soft? Those who broke the mold and went their own way weren’t wildly romantic or brave adventurers. They were girls who didn’t do as they were told. Today, we love the lady pirate. Back in her day, she was an object of ridicule and scorn not only from men, but from women as well. We know that women are often by far the most judgmental members of society and for a young lady to become a pirate, she is all but assured of being scorned by polite society indefinitely.

The Lady Pirate Wasn’t Safe
Unfortunately the lady pirate wasn’t safe on her own pirate ship at times. Many pirates considered women to be equivalent to personal property and these barbarian-like men decided to have at a girl whether she was willing or not. Considering the vast majority of pirates are men, the lady pirate is at a considerable disadvantage should one rouge pirate decide to shuck manners and attack the lady pirate while out on the high seas. While a lady pirate might be intelligent and brave, when it comes to physical strength, she is simply out done in most cases by men thanks to the basic genetics of things.

Ladies Simply Weren’t Interested
Today watching pirate movies and playing lady pirate dress up games, we find the lifestyles of the pirates incredibly romantic. To live on the open sea drinking rum and singing songs while sailing in search of buried treasure is all well and good. But in reality a lady pirate would be confined to a ship for months at a time with dozens of unwashed men who spend most of their time drunk and unintelligible. To fund this grand adventure, the pirates rob and kill others out on the seas and in port towns and almost never come even remotely close to becoming rich. At the end of the day there were just very few women interested in this sort of lifestyle. I’m not sure that anyone can truly blame them. A life at sea is surely grand, but the stench alone would be unbearable.
